Alpine Mountain House offers breathtaking views and access to some of the best outdoor activities in the world. Whether you're an avid Hiker, Stargazer or a first time Gem miner, our location has something for everyone.
Built in 2015, Alpine Mountain House is a custom designed and built home by Timber Block. Our father was a well known, award winning Architect from North Carolina and this design was inspired and modified from a plan he had drawn up prior to his passing. It sits on 5.7 acres that we have owned for over 30 years. The land itself is remarkable with a southwest view, and an actual Cave on the lower part of the property. The house directly faces the Black Mountain Range that hosts Mount Mitchell, the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi. Alpine Mountain house is filled with lots of mid century art and furniture. Some of the key features of this house is cantilevered roofs on the front and back of the house. This was to keep the beautiful view unobstructed, and was engineered to withstand 130mph winds. There is also radiant floor heat upstairs and downstairs, which keeps dust to a minimum, is very efficient and is an extremely comfortable and uniform heating system. The two level house has a master bedroom upstairs and a master bedroom downstairs. And, each level has a living room. The water supply is a capped spring with holding tank, and it is the best tasting water you'll ever drink, not to mention, showers that will leave you feeling perfectly clean and refreshed. The windows and doors are the highest level of Andersen Windows and the front door is a special Frank Lloyd Wright inspired design. The kitchen was designed to have an incredible view as you prepare meals. We didn't want anyone to feel "stuck" in the kitchen. There is even a whole house generator that powers just about everything but the oven. With a 500 gallon buried propane tank you can maintain full electrical systems for up to a month, when power is out all around the area.
